The Uppsala Model of Internationalization (Johansson, Vahlne, 1977) has been widely discussed and refined both by scholars and its authors. Relying on these literary contributions and on the concept of disruptive innovation (Christensen, 1997), this paper aims at extending the stages of the internationalization process as intended by the Uppsala Model to a further step where firms get knowledge inputs from the foreign market for developing new products that have commercial value also in their previous markets. We use case study research for showing how a company relied on Chinese market inputs for developing new products that have disruptive characteristics on the Western markets.

Abstract
The Uppsala Model of Internationalization (Johansson, Vahlne, 1977) has been widely discussed and refined both by scholars and its authors. Relying on these literary contributions and on the concept of disruptive innovation (Christensen, 1997), this paper aims at extending the stages of the internationalization process as intended by the Uppsala Model to a further step where firms get knowledge inputs from the foreign market for developing new products that have commercial value also in their previous markets. We use case study research for showing how a company relied on Chinese market inputs for developing new products that have disruptive characteristics on the Western markets.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
