This paper introduces two novel proposed robotic solutions for maintenance on condition, which are being developed within a research partnership between Trenitalia and PERCRO laboratory Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, for the inspection of the train underbody structure and the assessment of the performance of pantograph for power supply. The prototype will be used as Proof of Concept demonstration to be integrated into a larger project of maintenance on condition. The system will integrate the existing maintenance procedure currently applied by Trenitalia for the local transportation, with the objective of reducing the costs of maintenance procedures thanks to an increase of the frequency of inspections and to semi-automatic inspection procedures supervised by an operator that make use of robotic solutions.

Abstract
This paper introduces two novel proposed robotic solutions for maintenance on condition, which are being developed within a research partnership between Trenitalia and PERCRO laboratory Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, for the inspection of the train underbody structure and the assessment of the performance of pantograph for power supply. The prototype will be used as Proof of Concept demonstration to be integrated into a larger project of maintenance on condition. The system will integrate the existing maintenance procedure currently applied by Trenitalia for the local transportation, with the objective of reducing the costs of maintenance procedures thanks to an increase of the frequency of inspections and to semi-automatic inspection procedures supervised by an operator that make use of robotic solutions.I documenti in IRIS sono protetti da copyright e tutti i diritti sono riservati, salvo diversa indicazione.
