The Virtual Eggs Test (VET) is a novel performance-based assessment tool to evaluate manual dexterity. During the test, participants are asked to reach, grasp and transport fragile objects as fast as possible without crushing them. Manual dexterity is then assessed considering both the completion time and the number of broken objects. While the VET has been tested in adults with various pathologies, it has not been adapted for paediatric use. Here, we present the first phase of the co-creation of the Paediatric VET. A mockup and simplified version of the test was designed, and the interaction of 19 children with Cerebral Palsy was observed. Video recordings of these sessions were analyzed offline and discussed with a multidisciplinary team to identify the necessary adaptations for the Paediatric VET. Results suggest that incorporating a storytelling element can enhance engagement in children. Additionally, for children with Cerebral Palsy, integrating a sensorized pad to monitor the actions of the non-engaged hand may provide valuable additional metrics for assessing the disorder.
